Dr. W. Anthony Frisella is a fellowship-trained shoulder surgeon and board-certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Frisella is an expert in problems of the shoulder and upper extremity, especially rotator cuff tears, arthritis, and sports injuries. His specialized training and expertise allow him to deliver modern, high quality care to his patients and his guiding principle is to treat his patients as he would his own family.
Dr. Frisella grew up in St. Peters, Missouri and graduated from Harvard University in 1995. He attended medical school at Washington University in St. Louis where he received the Robert Carter Medical Student Award. After his residency training at the University of Iowa, he completed a fellowship in shoulder surgery in New York City in 2007. Dr. Frisella is the only fellowship-trained shoulder surgeon practicing in St. Charles County.
Dr. Frisella is active in teaching and research for problems of the shoulder. He continues to publish and give talks about the shoulder, and often serves as an instructor, teaching other surgeons new techniques in shoulder surgery. He has spoken both at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the Arthroscopy Association of North America on cutting-edge shoulder procedures and instructed other surgeons in new arthroscopic techniques. He has published papers, book chapters, and given national talks on rotator cuff repair and published research improving the outcomes of shoulder replacement.
